Welcome to Payne Art and Paris DreamsMy work is an Outsider's examination of a personal, internal sense of color fused with tension derivative of childlike and playful drawings. Current influences are works by the CoBRA artists, Rauschenberg and Motherwell. I am a self-taught artist who studied Art History in Paris, France. I currently live and work in Los Angeles and have been exhibited locally, and have works in collections around the world.
PROCESS My process changes constantly, often starting out with a nod in one direction and ending up with a finished piece that swerved so off-course you wouldn't recognize the beginning. I feel that this is the most natural and intuitive way for me to paint. And viewers often ask me to "explain" my artwork to them. But instead, I like to challenge the viewer to explain it to me. Although I love paint and oil pastels, I also love written words and graffiti art. These elements often wind up in my pieces by way of a variety of materials and a building of layers of paper and paint, including photographs I personally take around my environment. I am never without a sketchbook in hand where I'm able to make notes on shapes and colors that influence me. If you like to look at my art, then look. If you want to buy my art, then buy it. I will tell you that you are buying a part of my soul. But don't ask me to explain that. If you are interested in purchasing my art, please contact me ![]() I am proud to be the Featured Artist at Reflections Art Gallery, October 2013 and named "Most Evolved Artist"
